Hey! I’m Hollyn. I’m 23 from Plano, Tx. I love blogging, animals, special-needs kids, kids under age 4, music, & sleeping with LOTS of blankets on =)

If the Contact page ever fails you, feel free to contact me at: hollyn.e.donovan@gmail.com

I have a 9 year old Corgi/Australian Shepherd mix rescue dog named Toby who I love to pieces & an 18 year old sister.

I live with mental, developmental, & physical disabilities & illnesses, so I really do run the zebra gambit.

Always feel free to ask me any questions you may have! I’m pretty much an open book.

Also, you may be wondering…WHY A ZEBRA?

In medical school, doctors are taught the saying “when you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras”, which means for them to look for the obvious, the likely, or the common diagnoses in patients vs looking for or automatically assuming that a patient has a rare or lesser-known-about diagnosis.

I am the patient who has the “rare” diagnosis…and more than one of them. I am the complex patient who has broad-spectrum medical problems. I have mental health conditions, physical chronic illnesses, and a developmental disability (Autism), so I am the Zebra that doctors in medical school are taught not to look for. Also, the zebra is the mascot for Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS), which is one of the 4 physical chronic illnesses that I have.
